Thank you and Recipe

Thank you to all our customers that joined us last night for ladies nite! several people asked for the recipe for the coconut balls so here it is. And I hope to hear back from any of you about how to improve for our future events! These are called 'Skillet Cookies' (i think they need a better name!) 1 stick butter 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1 box or bag of chopped dates 1 cup pecans 2 cups rice krispies 1 tsp vanilla Place butter, sugar, egg and chopped dates in a pan and cook for 5 minutes or until dates are dissolved. Remove from heat, add vanilla, rice crispies and pecans. When cool enough to handle, roll in coconut after shaping it into a small log shaped or round cookies. Someone last nite said their grandmother had a similar recipe using powdered sugar, which i would to try. And someone said the wassail had too much rum(1/2 cup) and another said they could not taste the rum..... oh well! We did set off a wish lantern about 8 oclock, and they are so pretty when they go up, but gotta...

Continuing the Celebration...

Our 5th year anniversary celebration kicked off big, at our annual Holiday Open House a couple weeks ago.  We are keeping the shop full of beautiful decorations and sweet gifts for just about anyone!  Congratulations to Jim Perry, winner of our $50 anniversary drawing! Our next big event to celebrate our five years and the holidays, is Tues. December 6th.  We are calling it Women's Night Out, (everyone welcome of course!) and are staying open later, along with several local shops, and offering refreshments from 5-9pm.  The other shops are Common Ground, The Pink House, The Arch, Studio B, and Sanctuary of Stuff. Every shop will run their own specials; we will do the same 10% off as we do at our Open House. (Be sure to mention you saw this online or bring in your postcard if you couldn't make to the open house.)  We've gotten great feedback from our customers and are looking forward to a very festive evening! We welcome Autumn!

Today marks the official first day of Autumn. We can feel it already in the cooler evenings and bright, crisp days. This is the best time of year to plant perennials and shrubs. The ground has been warmed all year and will continue to be just right for good root growth. The cooler temperatures help too; the break from the heat helps things perk up, plus the ground is not as quick to dry up. That said, of course, new plantings need water, so make sure you make note of the rain, and give long, slow drinks in dry periods. Arrived fresh in our shop this week:   Lots of pansies, mums, red lettuce, red mustard, Redbor Kale, 'Citronelle' Heuchera, Lavender, Rosemary, and more. All of these make interesting fall and winter planted arrangements. We'll be adding more in the next few weeks, we also got some evergreen shrubs just the right size for arrangements, so we are ready to help you spruce up your planters for some fall color and interest. ...
